the experience
Sessions are relaxed (but fast-paced), fun and freeing. Don't expect any stiff, super-posed shots. I strive to capture moments that are real, spontaneous, and fresh.
Once your session is booked, we'll discuss location, clothing, and the overall feel of the session. You'll receive tips to help you prepare (clothing suggestions, items to bring along), a full price schedule and a copy of your Portrait Agreement (your contract) for your review.
The location will determine the overall feel of your session. Whether you choose to have a studio session at home or an outdoor session in your local park, at the beach, or even in the city centre, our time together will be fun. From each session I provide an extensive selection of images; so if you were to book a family session, this could include family portraits, portraits of your children, just the parents, individual portraits, or any combination/grouping. These are not your typical portraits and my style is not for everyone - that's okay. It's important to make sure we are a good match before booking so that we are all thrilled with the final images. Be sure to browse the Galleries to get an idea for my style of photography, and check the Blog for sneak peeks of my latest sessions.
Babies and children don't stick to a timetable so these sessions are flexible; I will work around you and your family to help get the best shots. My goal is to make your session relaxed and enjoyable. I have plenty of patience for the little ones. Don't worry if your child is acting up, I'm always watching carefully for those special moments that might only last a millisecond. Typically, around 10am is the best time to start, when your children are at their happiest.
all sessions include:
- one to three hours of session time (including set-up and outfit changes) - please allow three to four hours for newborn sessions
- natural light/candid lifestyle portraits. These can be both indoors and outdoors.
- studio portraits. I will bring studio equipment with me to set-up in your home, or, if you prefer, you are welcome to have your session in my home studio. I use black, white and various colour backdrops with lighting.
- use of props and other special items. I'll bring along my collection of baskets, blankets, fabrics, soft toys, alphabet blocks, and even angel wings for maternity/baby sessions, I have many items to choose from! Feel free to bring along your child's favourite toys, and be prepared to sing their favourite songs!
special offers ~ Belly to Baby & Baby's First Year
Belly to Baby - this combines a maternity session and a newborn session (for those sweet curled up newborn images baby's first 6-10 days are best).
Baby's First Year - this combines three sessions during the first 18 months of your baby's life. Typically, sessions take place at newborn (baby's first 6-10 days are best), 6-7 months (baby is smiling and laughing, able to sit up but not crawl, can grab and hold feet when laying down), and 1 year (claps, waves, plays games, and able to stand whilst holding onto something).
booking your session
In order to give the personal attention that I feel each of my clients deserve, I schedule a limited number of sessions per month. Please try to book your portrait session four to six weeks in advance to ensure availability. For newborn sessions, please book prior to the baby's arrival and as soon as possible. I keep a limited amount of space available for last-minute newborns; I'll pencil you in based on your due date and then make room for you in my schedule once the baby arrives.
For more information, pricing details and/or availability, please send me a message or give me a call. I look forward to hearing from you.
A note about Weddings...
I am available to shoot smaller, more intimate weddings. For a larger, more traditional wedding I prefer to work with a 'second shooter'. My wedding photography style is typically a mix of photojournalism with a small amount of relaxed posed portraits. Wedding photojournalism is the art of telling the story of a wedding with photographs, as it happens, and without staging or direction from the photographer. Please contact me if you wish to receive details about my wedding packages. |
